American and Proud…
I’ve always had a deep connection for artsy type of things, especially for clothing and sneakers. But it wasn’t till I was about 13yrs old(2002) that my love for sneakers had slowly evolved into an obsession of some sort. I began to cherish every sneaker I bought. and while my parents helped feed into my addiction by providing money, there was something that felt more heart warming and closer to my emotions when I would save up and buy some with my own money. Fast forward about 2 or 3 years and i’m in high school. With each year that passed so did my passion for sneaker community. It emerged into a competition to outdo friends and other people at school. But what was most thrilling was the hunt of those limited pairs. Finding those pairs that everyone noticed(simply because of their age or lack of availability) is amongst one of the greatest feelings I’ve felt when wearing them in public…
But as I continue striving for growth in ALL aspects in my life, I reached a another chapter in my life. My senior year I noticed that I started becoming more caught up in a designer clothes phase and with an urge to have my OWN style and look. The college life came into play in fall ‘09 and so did the nail in the coffin.
I attempted to resurrect and enter the growing community once again this past semester hunting with a new mindset, but it wasn’t the same. I guess some people would say that its the “HYPE” thats killing it but whatever the reason may be I can not continue the life I used to entertain. As ya’ll can see, my tumblr is an example of my current style.
Even though Im done, a true sneaker head can never fully put an end to their madness. Yes, I do still buy, and yes, I still have my collection, but my binge buying is stop to a bare minimum. Im SURE if you’re reading this you’ve probably been in my situation so you feel this random rant lol Thanks for reading…
